Everest
In October 2007, the Band decided they would like to do something for the Radio Derby Money Mountain appeal. We donated the services of the Band for a dance or Concert and the bidding began. Fast forward to tonight and we honoured the winning bid. We played for a 40th Birthday party in a Barn on a Farm. It was absolutely freezing and it is the first time that the lads and lasses have played in overcoats, thermals and gloves. It was hard to distinguish the musicians from the stands, as they were both blue! We played for 2 hours of Dancing and in the interval we were given a Hog Roast and buffet. I was in my element as I love animals and took a walk around the Farm to meet the dog, cows, horses and chickens (The pig was missing???). The Band were,as always, professional despite the cold and the audience were very appreciative. One lady came up afterwards ,to tell me that her father had been in a Big Band when he was younger. He lives on the east coast and she rang him on her mobile so that he could hear the Band playing. She said he was thrilled to bits. As always, I am very proud of the Band, but particularly tonight, as they donated their services for free, but they played as professionally as ever.
