Donkey

Just back from a great big adventure. After Band Tuesday I decided to pay some friends a visit in Blackpool. So down the motorway and found a boarding house. This was like stepping back in time as B and B's have not changed since the 70s. I managed to get a single room right at the top of the building. It was freezing as the heating did not come on until a specific time, and there was no override. Apparently the B & B would have disintegrated if they ha put it on an hour early!! There was no heater in the bathroom, so I had to wash and shave standing half in and half out of the Bathroom and Bedroom. It was about minus 2 in the bedroom but minus 10 in the Bathroom! I decided to get in as much as I could in the short time I had. So I went on a tram, down to the sea, in the amusements, into Louis Tussuad's, had fish and chips, visited numerous pubs, bought a kiss me quick hat (no one did?) had 4 beefburgers in one night, went to a show and fed a seagull phew. Had a great night with my friends and stayed in one pub, but there was to much to catch up on really. When I went to the show I had a chat with the MD. Turns out he had also played in the Tower Circus Band. he was dropped in it at the deep end. He was depping for a mate, but didn't realise some jazz was involved and suddenly he realised he had to stand up with a spot light on him, and give it some ad lib. He did it, but it was a steep learning curve. I love the sea, but old Blackpool is very very tired and dingy, so I am sort of glad to be home. That is until the next adventure???
