Down Hill ski run

My life has always been very varied. At this time in my life I am working both ends of the emotional scale. One moment trying to keep people entertained with music and laughter, and the other end in Funeral Work. Although we have to keep a solemn face at a service, it is not always easy. There are quite a few incidents where I nearly lost it. One was sliding down the hill at a cemetery in deep snow, just after telling the mourners to be careful. I slid on all fours down the hill. The Gravedigger tried to catch me as well as the Vicar and one of the bearers, and if it had not been for a gravestone I would have made the road which was only about 100 feet away.Today we had a service in a church that was built in the 1400s. Now people in them days were allot smaller. To get the coffin in church requires only 2 bearers, as it has to be placed with one end on a pew and the other on a trestle just behind the organ player (who by the way regularly gets bashed in the head with the coffin.) It was a fairly heavy carry ,and as the church was packed ,was very difficult ,as no one would move out of the way.. In some ways it reminded me of a Laurel and Hardy movie. But we all kept straight faced and did the job the best we could. Managed an hours practice last night so all is well.
