You never know what you are going to get on Tuesday night Band. Last night I had a new piece of music to sight read. Looking at the first page I thought it was not to bad. However the arranger had saved the worse to last. A few Trombonist's I have spoke to say, that top Ab is the worse note to hit securely on there instruments. Just happens that the second page of the solo had lots of em! To be honest I started with the Band and finished with the Band which is the main objective. can't say I made a particularly good job of the solo though, which of course frustrates me, So a bit more practice needed me thinks. I know a well know Trombonist who packed in playing as it was getting harder and harder to keep his chops in. I know the feeling.
