The Journey

Missed Saturdays blog by 30 minutes drat. Not surprising though as Saturday has been very busy. I had a call at about 1pm to say that the hall for a dance we were playing at that night, had been double booked. This meant a later start, and later set up. The next thing was trying to get this info to 18 musicians. I think we 99% succeeded in this. I did not front the Band tonight, but sat and played and thoroughly enjoyed myself, for the first time in ages. The Band was professionally MC'd by Dave the Sax. This guy is a fantastic section leader and soloist and supremely proficient on the mic. In fact when it comes time for me to sit down and take my place within the Band, I dearly hope this guy will take over the helm. The blood, sweat and tears that have gone into getting the Band where it is today over the last 13 years, has been an incredible journey, and I am so proud and privileged to have been a part of it, although I think it has probably taken 20 years off my life. But as I am only 28 that isn't a problem!!!
Despite all the practice, my lip is still not as flexible as I know it can be, so I need to put much more work in. Ah well back to the drawing board.
