The long and the short

For an upcoming dance we are playing for, Tim the pad has dug out some old Jimmy Lally arrangements to add a bit of variety to the night (I can't remember why we got rid of them in the first place!). The amazing thing about these arrangements is, they can be played by a small number of musicians, for example a quartet, up to a 17 piece Big Band, and still work? They are not difficult to play, and are usually catchy tunes. We are a Band that are not amateur in thought ,to be just playing for ourselves.But our goal is to entertain the audience,and up to now I think we have succeeded. By the way I forgot to tell you what I got for Xmas.
Well I got a pen that writes underwater.
I just wish it would write other words!
