Wind in the Willows

Big Dance for the Gurkha Welfare Trust last night. A few of the Regiment travelled all the way from Aldershot to show the audience some traditional Gurkha Dancing. I was informed by the organiser that they were ready, so I gave them a big build up on the microphone' " Ladies and Gentleman please welcome the Gurkha Regiment" This then became very much like the scene in 'The Sound of Music' at the music competition when the Von Trapp family had legged it! over the mountain to safety. Ladies and Gentleman 'The Gurkha Dancers............Nothing. No one to be seen. Apparently they were still setting up the CD player for their Dance. So I stood there like a lemon for a while, with my stress levels gradually rising to optimum levels. Finally the Dancers appeared and performed the Dance then went straight back to Camp. We then took over and played until Midnight. They also provided buffet for the Band including Curry with mushy peas. I have to tell you that the atmosphere on the stage after this was lethal to say the least, and I am sure I heard quite a few notes that were not produced by a musical instrument.
